Selling the Room, Not the Machine: A Visual Gaming-Room Designer for Location Owners
United Gaming Advisors — September 29, 2026
Distributed gaming machines are close to a commodity. The room they sit in isn't. The same terminals can earn nearly three times as much in a top-performing location as in a median one, and much of that difference comes down to atmosphere and how long players want to stay.
That's hard to explain to an owner who has never seen a well-designed gaming room. Monte Cristo Gaming's answer is Design Your Casino Room, a free visual designer that lets owners style a room and watch it change in real time.
How it works
Owners pick a location type (Classic Chicago Tavern, Sports Bar, Tiki Bar or Sandwich Shop, with restaurant and fraternal layouts coming), then customize wallpaper and murals, LED perimeter lighting, neon signage, casino-style carpet or flooring, amenity corners, and a privacy wall in stone, wood slat or mural finishes. Each design starts from a real tavern gaming room with a six-game wall and redemption terminal, and can be saved.
Why it matters for operators
It sells the outcome, not the machine. Owners see a destination instead of a row of cabinets.
It starts the right conversation. Room design is where operators can actually differentiate on performance.
It captures intent. A saved design is a warm lead with real preferences attached.
Design within the rules
Every jurisdiction regulates the gaming area differently. Illinois, for example, requires terminals to be in an area restricted to adults 21 and over, with the entrance within view of an employee. Some markets also restrict what an operator can provide to a location, so build-out support has to be structured carefully. Floor layouts, security and cash handling, and inducement rules are part of every market-entry plan we build.
About this series: Monte Cristo Gaming is an Illinois video gaming terminal operator founded by United Gaming Advisors principal Chris Schink. It is a separate company from United Gaming Advisors. We use its owner-facing tools as working examples of what we help operators build in other markets. United Gaming Advisors does not currently offer consulting services in Illinois.
